The main aim of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona is
to guarantee the mobility of all the people.
Since the early 90's, and as the Olympic Games where being
prepared, TMB started a non- return process in order to make
transport in the city of Barcelona accessible.
The introduction of the accessibility criteria in transport
allows the people suffering from reduced mobility to make
use of them, encouraging thus their total social integration.
And at the same time, help other groups which, by their circumstances,
may require special assistance and that, at times, may be
very close to us: elderly people, mothers and fathers with
baby prams, pregnant women
TMB's commitment

TMB's commitment towards accessibility has made it possible
to take part in the meetings of the Institut Municipal de Persones
amb Disminució (Municipal Institute of Handicapped People)
for some time now, and lately, has joined its governing board.
In these work commissions, in which representatives of other
groups take part the actions to be carried out are designed
with the aim to make public transport totally accessible,
and they are always agreed on with the users representatives.
For the same reason, TMB has signed a collaboration agreement with the ‘Secció d’accessibilitat de la Diputació de Barcelona’ to collaborate on new accessibility projects consisting of infrastructure building and new materials purchasing. In that way, the whole of these actions is strengthening TMB’s main objective: offer a good quality transport accessible for everyone. .
