It allows rail circulation to be supervised and monitored.
Its different levels of application are as follows:
Automatic Train Operation system (ATO)
This system operates with the support of the Train-stop
and Cesares systems. Its function is the automatic control
that takes a train from one station to anther. The system
records information on the speed and route as well as beacons
in order to organise travel from one stop to the next in the
optimum fashion. This system is installed on lines 2 and 5
and is being introduced on lines 1 and 3.
Traffic Regulation System (RDT)
This system uses the previous systems to obtain regularity
in the frequency with which trains pass, determined either
by timetables or intervals, depending on the operational circumstances.
This system optimises the transport capacity, unifies passenger-waiting
times at any point along the line and saves energy on the
bands. This system is installed on lines 1, 3 and 4.
The SIRO (Optimal Regulation System)
The SIRO has been installed on lines 2 and 5. It sends instructions
from the network through the ATO without requiring the assistance
of the machine operator.
