New urban design next to the main railway station
This area also features two interesting urban-design
interventions of the mid-eighties: the Plaça dels Països
Catalans, the city's first "hard square", and the Parc de l'Espanya
Industrial, which occupies the site of an old textile mill of the same
name. The boating lake, the steps, the lighthouse-style towers and the
massive sculpture which is used as a slide, are the key elements of a
highly original park. Not far from here is another park featuring a gigantic
sculpture by Joan Miró. You're sure to spot it easily.
